GS Alumna Topped National Qualifying Exam



Mitchel Madelo Villaceran, a graduate of Master of Arts in Education Major in Educational Administration in Capitol University, ranked 3rd in the National Qualifying Examination for Principals (NQEP) among the Region 10 takers. A total of 9,778 examinees nationwide took the exam with only 924 passers (9.5%). The qualifying exam for principals was administered last January 23, 2011 at Cagayan de Oro National High School. This exam is a requirement for the promotion to the position of a principal.

The 2010 NQEP constitute 170 test items equitably distributed across nine performance areas or leadership experience of school heads which include: School Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Creating a Student-Centered Learning Climate, Professional Human Resource Development, Parent Involvement and Building Community, School Management and Daily Operations, Personal Integrity and Interpersonal Sensitivity, English Language Proficiency and Reading Comprehension (http://school-principal.blogspot.com).

Ms. Villaceran is a regional trainer of the National English Proficiency Program since 2008. She is set to finish her Doctor of Philosophy in Capitol University on March 2012.

 

GS Professors in Business Consultants’ Forum

Dr. Elizabeth Fiqueroa, Dr. Felixberto Condeza, Dr. Alan N. Aladano, and Dr. Francis Thaise A. Cimene attended the First Business Consultants’ Forum last July 20, 2011 at Casa Real of VIP Hotel, this City. The Forum was sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental for the purpose of gathering all local business consultants in the city in one venue for profiling and leveling of understanding on the needs and concerns of Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental.  With this move, DTI hopes to establish an effective network among consultants and with other government line agencies to facilitate delivery of assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises. Also in attendance was Mr. Clifford G. Roa, President of the Capitol University Alumni Association.
